Galvalume Steel Sheet/Plate is an aluminum-zinc alloy steel sheet. The coating consists of 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicon. Galvalume steel is 3 to 6 times more durable than galvanized steel (both 270 g/m2) under various conditions by adding a galvanized layer (electroplating protection) to the long-term durability and heat resistance of aluminum. The delamination of the Galvalume Steel Sheet/Plate coating is first the solidification of the aluminium and then the crystallisation of the zinc within this layer, resulting in the crystal cross-section shown in the figure below. Over time, the zinc in the crystal structure dissolves out, and tiny sticky oxides in the aluminium fill these spaces, creating what is called the "self-healing effect" of Galvalume Steel Sheet/Plate.

Galvalume Steel Sheet is a carbon steel sheet coated with an Al-Zn alloy using a continuous hot dip process that combines the corrosion protection and high temperature resistance of aluminium with the formability and galvanic protection of zinc. Galvalume Steel Sheet/Plate offers the best quality in aluminium coating (aluminized) and galvanized steel (galvanized). Aluminum/zinc coatings have corrosion barrier and heat resistance similar to aluminum-coated steel. It also has good bare edge plating protection and form quality similar to continuous annealed commercial quality galvanizing. The appearance of the Galvalume coating is very characteristic. Its smooth, flat, fine sequins and silver metallic look make it attractive in unpainted applications.
