What Are Galvanized Steel Coils Used For?

The galvanized steel coil used by most construction workers is typically used for roofing applications. There, it is used as a protective cover or barrier for ridges and valleys in roofing systems. Coils are laid flat on the roof, bent into the tops of ridges or into the crease of valleys to protect the seams of the roof slabs from the elements. It also creates a watershed for stormwater runoff and melting snow and ice. Galvanized steel coil is ideal for building strong roofing systems.


Hot-dip galvanized steel coil can obtain pure zinc coating by hot-dip galvanizing process. It combines the economy, strength and formability of steel with the corrosion resistance of zinc. The hot dip process is the process of applying a zinc layer to steel to prevent rusting. It is especially useful for countless outdoor and industrial applications. Hot-dipped galvanized steel coil is made by dipping a steel sheet into a bath of dissolved zinc and has a zinc layer on the surface. Mainly adopts continuous galvanizing production process. This means that the cold rolled coil is placed in a bath of dissolved zinc for a continuous galvanizing process.
