Galvanizing is an important method of steel corrosion control, not only because of its ability to form a dense protective layer on the steel surface, but also because of its cathodic protection. When the zinc coating is damaged, the corrosion of iron-based materials can still be prevented by cathodic protection.

Galvanized steel corrugated sheet is rust and corrosion resistant, which makes it an ideal sheet for use in areas with a very high potential for oxidation or rusting. It is also a fairly affordable type of steel plate, mainly because of its low cost of manufacture compared to other steel plates, but also because it can be used directly, i.e. without any further preparation or treatment.
